Determining the Optimum Process Parameters by Asymmetric Quality Loss Function

چکیده
Huang presented a trade-off problem, taking both product quality and process adjustment cost into account, to determine the optimum parameters (i.e., the process mean and process variance) of the input characteristic in the transformation model. In Huang’s transformation model, the input characteristic, x, is assumed to be normally distributed and the output characteristic, y, is nominal-the-best with a target value. The relationship between x and y can be either linear or quadratic. When formulating the cost function in the transformation model, Huang used the symmetric quadratic loss function to measure the loss of profit. In this paper, we extend Huang’s quadratic transformation model to a more general case by respectively using asymmetric quadratic and asymmetric linear loss functions in the cost function. The modified cost functions using asymmetric quadratic and asymmetric linear loss functions are developed. A numerical example is provided for illustration.

A Quartic Quality Loss Function and Its Properties
We propose a quartic function to represent a family of continuous quality loss functions. Depending on the choice of its parameters the shape of this function within the specification limits can be either symmetric or asymmetric, and it can be either similar to the ubiquitous quadratic loss function or somewhat closer to the conventional step function. We examine this family of loss functions i...

In quality control charts, the problem of determining the optimum process mean arises when the deviation of a quality characteristic in one direction is more harmful than in the opposite direction. The failure mode in these two directions is usually different. A great majority of researches in this area have considered asymmet-ric cost function for processes with single quality characteristics....
متن کاملBayesian Estimation for the Pareto Income Distribution under Asymmetric LINEX Loss Function
The use of the Pareto distribution as a model for various socio-economic phenomena dates back to the late nineteenth century. In this paper, after some necessary preliminary results we deal with Bayes estimation of some of the parameters of interest under an asymmetric LINEX loss function, using suitable choice of priors when the scale parameter is known and unknown. Results of a Monte C...

Physicochemical properties of surimi and kamaboko obtained of solubility in acid, alkaline and conventional methods were compared. The results indicated that the highest protein recovery was related to solubility in acid, alkaline and conventional methods, respectively. The highest removal of lipid and myoglobin was observed by solubility in alkali. Excretion of total pigment and sulfhydryl gro...
